Prayer should begin with praise. But sometimes, when we set out to pray, try as we will we have no heart for praising. So if sometimes we start out to pray with a heavy heart, let us pray heavy hearted.

God knows our heart. God knows its capacity and its potential. God knows what we can and what we will do. God asks only what is possible for us. He lets us ask the impossible of Him. God urges us beyond ourselves, but only when He knows, though we do not, that we are capable of accomplishing all things.

Let us speak the word now:

I am grateful, Father, for the paths that I have trodden, the way that I have come. The God-spark in me pours forth Its light, It tells me that I am able.

I believe, Father, and I, in stillness, complete this prayer:

You feel my sincerity, my earnestness, my prayer.
